Music downloads to count towards record industry gongs

Downloads will now count towards the commemorative discs awarded to artists to recognise high sales, the UK record industry's main body announced today. Discs are presented for both single and album sales as follows: singles - silver 200,000, gold 400,000, platinum 600,000; albums - silver 60,000, gold 100,000, platinum 300,00. The BPI said that music DVDs will also be included: titles shipping 25,000 copies or more will be eligible for a gold award, with a platinum award for 50,000 sales. ...more

Released documents reveal how executives of Hewlett Packard agreed to a plan to unmask a board level mole by leaking information to a journalist. The plan, apparently suggested by a former journalist, was to gain the trust of CNet writer Dawn Kawamoto in the hope that she would lead them to the source of confidential company information.
